We
pride ourselves in a very long tradition of excellence in training
not only self-defense but life skills as well. Our students fully
understand that what they learn here is not how to fight, but
how not to fight. As our school credo states, we develop martial
artists who are constantly striving to improve not only themselves
but also the communities that they are involved in.
In
all of our programs we strive to instile positive core values
within our students. Your child will not only learn these values
but will live them. Values such as Respect, Integrity, Honor,
Discipline, Self-Esteem in addition to realistic Self-Defense.
Fun

that will lead to a better self defense and self care throughout
life. Our students develop a great sense of worth in knowing that
they are ready for anything in or outside of class. Your child

Self-Defense
~ Your child will learn that even though they are learning martial
arts, the best form of self-defense is avoidance of trouble situations
and that physical confrontation is a last resort. They learn that
the best defense comes from their brain power.
LITTLE
DRAGONS -

Our Little Dragons program is where your child will develop the
skills that will help give them a jumpstart when entering the
Karate & Youth Grappling Programs. Your children will learn
balance, co-ordination, and basic self-defense while developing
flexibility, strength, and endurance that will help them in whatever
the do in life. Our Little Dragons program is designed to be non-stop
fun and our instructors are highly trained in keeping your children
focused and on task during the class.
KARATE
- 7-UP
The martial arts developed in Japan by Giichen Funakoshi in the
early 1920s. Karate translates to "empty hand" and emphazises
striking and kicking. Giichen Funakoshi was an Okinawan who introduced
the martial art of "te", also called Okinawan-te, to
Japan. He learned the art in Okinawa, where it was known by various
names, usually based on the style or school of the headmaster
or location of the school. The art flourished in Okinawa for years
before Funakoshi took to Japan where it bacame popluar, especially
among colleges. After Funakoshi introduced Karate to Japan, his
school became known as Shotokan. Shoto was Funakoshi's nickname,
so the school was called "School of Shoto".
YOUTH
GRAPPLING - 7-UP
Our Youth Grappling program is a great program for children because
they will learn how to fully defend themselves without punching
or kicking. Your child will learn a combination of Judo &
Ju-Jitsu. These two arts originated in Japan and also have roots
in Brazil. Your child will learn a variety of throws and ground
control that they can use to subdoe an opponent while maintaning
full control. As students progress, they will learn a myriad of
choking and joint manipulation techniques to increase their effectiveness
in controlling an aggressor.
